چکیده

Coatings can be used as a preservative method to protect the wood, especially wood surface. The different component of coating’s dependence purpose it. Japanese beech (Fagus crenata Blume) applied by several commercials coating materials. coatings application were spray type and brush type. X-ray microtomography in Fuji, Japan was for visualized samples. target Cu, Mo with Al filter. image analysis 2D 3D conducted using J VGStudio Max, respectfully. containing materials concentration it strongly affected result visualization. shows results. larger energy (Mo filter) is recommended use images penetration phenomena, which calculate depth.

X-ray microtomography as a non-destructive tool for stone characterization in a conservation study

Calcareous stones such as Lecce stones have a high porosity which results in a readily uptake of rainwater. Due to the atmospheric pollutants dissolved in the water these stones, used in a lot of historical buildings, are constantly under attack which leads to a decay of the stone. Different kind of organic hydrophobic products such as Paraloid B72 and fluorinated rubber are often applied as pr...

Applications of X-ray synchrotron microtomography for non-destructive 3D studies of paleontological specimens

Paleontologists are quite recent newcomers among the users of X-ray synchrotron imaging techniques at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). Studies of the external morphological characteristics of a fossil organism are not sufficient to extract all the information for a paleontological study. Nowadays observations of internal structures become increasingly important, but these obs...

Metallic foams characterization using X-ray microtomography

Abstact Due to their multi properties, metallic foams have become of major interest for both, basic research as well as industrial applications. In order to implement a thin modelling approach of fluid flows in such porous media, a three dimensional investigation of their internal structure is fundamental. An open-cell nickel foam is imaged using X-ray microtomography. The morphology of the foa...

Quantifying Mesoscale Neuroanatomy Using X-Ray Microtomography

Methods for resolving the three-dimensional (3D) microstructure of the brain typically start by thinly slicing and staining the brain, followed by imaging numerous individual sections with visible light photons or electrons. In contrast, X-rays can be used to image thick samples, providing a rapid approach for producing large 3D brain maps without sectioning. Here we demonstrate the use of sync...
